No, you do not need to get tickets in advance. This is a very low key museum and generally there is no crowd. There will be more people around in the summer, but I doubt there will be a wait even then. It is nothing like the big tourist attractions I suspect you are thinking of. As an aside, this is one of the 10 or so museums that you can get into with the museo pass, which costs around 24 euros, I believe. As you probably know, that is a good deal even if you only go to a handful of them. Enjoy your time in Venice.
Some reviews say you can take photos without a flash and some say you can't take any at all. Which is correct. I can't find reference to this on any web sites.
