is this in proximity to the cathedral? SO if we take an uber or taxi there we can jsut walk around the town on our own and see this?

you definitely need a taxi into town. also, the fort is a fair hike from the cathedral. The concierge can organize a taxi. We paid $35.00 for a good tour with stops where we wanted.

Four of us took a cab there and did our own tour. there is no reason to book an excursion.
