I believe you can but there is also the option of utilising the bus service which goes directly past the entrance to the walking track

If you are going to be out at dawn or dusk it's best to use some mozzie spray just to be safe. They carry some nasty diseases and they mostly bite at those times. Get a tropical strength one though which is available in just about any supermarket or pharmacy.
