Křivoklát is a market town in Rakovník District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 700 inhabitants. It is known for the Křivoklát Castle. The initial name of Křivoklát was Krivoplát. It was derived from from Czech words křivý plát and probably referred to the non-flat terrain where the castle was founded. In the 14th century, the name was distorted to Křivoklát.
