We were in town for the train ride and thought we would stop here as well. Our docent was a very sweet former school children. She involved our children in her presentations and kept it interesting.Full review by daniellef51
Hi John just wanted to let you know that the Mamie Eisenhower Birthplace reopened on July 1, 2021 to museum visitors. The items have been moved back to this museum. We've had numerous visitors and just want to keep them coming to 718 Carroll St., Boone, Iowa. Thanks be sure to come visit us.
Anyone who has visited the MDE Birthplace since before October 20, 2017, please let us know your experience. Tragically the actual location where the Mamie Doud Eisenhower artifacts were, didn't need to be closed but is now. This was a calculated closing by a select few to bring more attention to their personal interests with the History Center. The 6 member group is receiving high criticism from the community for the closing of the Birthplace. Unfortunately, the Executive Director has no roots in Boone, and memorabilia and their donors are being cast aside needlessly to accommodate their own hidden agenda. We, the community of Boone, apologize to all looking forward to visiting the Mamie Doud Eisenhower Birthplace. We're working on change to reopen it. Thank you.
