Hi, I don't go to any zoo, circus, or aquarium, only sanctuaries that don't make their money by having wild animals do things like elephant rides in Thailand or painting with their trunks since I'm all too familiar with how a wild animal is taken, and broken into a lifetime of slavery. I am sure that you treat the animals in your care well, but before I bring my little grandson, I want to know how you get the animals in your care? And if you breed? I'm a little confused the the "Teaching Zoo" title. Does it teach how to train wild animals to perform, thus encouraging the circle of stealing them from their natural homes, and breaking their spirit? Even if that is not done by your facility, is your school encouraging that indirectly by training students to become professional handlers? Or do you rescue your animals from bad situations & try to give them a better life? Most of the animals I see online are not native to our wildlife, so my question really is, what value are you adding to an animal's life, before I introduce my 3 yr old grandson to yours. Thank you kindly.

Thank you for your interest in visiting America's Teaching Zoo at Moorpark College. The Teaching Zoo is a wonderful educational experience for "kids of all ages". Our spectacular animals come from varying backgrounds and each one has a special story we want to share with our guests. We suggest that visitors not only admire the animals, but ask our many wonderful student/keepers plenty of questions. That is why we are called a "Teaching Zoo", everyone who visits is inspired to learn. Safety and animal care are our top priority, and our graduates have successful careers at some of the finest animal care facilities in the country. We hope you decide to visit with your grandson. Thank you for your time.
