No need for advanced tix- it’s never crowded. We went on June 14 at about 10:30am and walked right in.

Will the museum be open on Tue. January 2nd 2018?
A:
Most probably yes. They have some limitation for Sundays & Mondays, but 2nd of Jan is Tuesday and there is no bank holiday in Italy on that day, as far as I know. Enjoy!

I don't recall the museum staff being rude. They weren't particularly helpful but they just did their jobs and not much else.
