I believe that is for the experience of behind the scenes feeding the babies in the morning. We just paid the standard fee for the hour tour and thought it was great. Canoe tour wasnt opeerating due to COVID but we were still happy with the price for what we got. Would recommend also visiting the Jaguar rescue centre down the road in Perto Viejo. Loads of baby sloths sadly but soooo cute.
We want to visit the sloth sanctuary, but want to know what available transportation out of Limon is there to either La fortuna, or Manuel Antonio? We want to fly from San José to Limón, then explore the rest of Costa Rica. Would love any recommendations. Thanks

We hired a car from San Jose. Took about 5 hours to get to Sloth Sanctuary from San Jose
Is the 'behind-the-scenes' tour really worth the steep increase in price? My kid & I love sloths & seeing babies would be cool but I'm not sure if it's truly worth that much. What say ye?

Absolutely! It’s the only way to see the baby sloths and spending time in the nursery watching them was my favorite part!! How often do you have an opportunity like this? Also I read that powdered goats milk is very hard for them to acquire (idk why) and they need it to feed the babies. I brought 2 cans and got a big hug from the owner. I ordered it on amazon Meyenberg is a good brand. It was $10 or $15 per can.
