NEW YORK (AP) — Victor Wembanyama had 19 points, seven rebounds and six blocks, Jeremy Sochan had 12 points and 14 rebounds and the San Antonio Spurs beat the Brooklyn Nets 96-87 on Friday night. Julian Champagnie scored 18 points, and Keldon Johnson had 15 points and six rebounds to help the Spurs end a two-game skid.

Starters Cam Johnson (hip contusion) and Ben Simmons (lower back maintenance) joined leading scorer Cam Thomas (hamstring) out of the Nets lineup.

The Brooklyn Nets (12-19) were coming off an impressive win at the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday, but they were going to have a tougher test against Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs (16-15).

The Nets announced prior to Friday's tipoff that forward Cam Johnson and guard Ben Simmons were ruled out despite both playing and finishing Thursday's win. Granted, Simmons will be missing Friday's contest due to his lower back injury management program while Johnson is missing the game due to a right hip contusion that he most likely suffered from hitting the ground following his dunk on Bucks center Brook Lopez.

Ben Simmons finished with eight points, four rebounds, nine assists and one steal while shooting 4/9 from the field in 28 minutes of playing time. Many fans reacted to his performance on social media.
