A Championship clash was delayed by more than 30 minutes due to a medical emergency in the stands. The fixture between Portsmouth and Middlesbrough was due to kick off at 3pm at Fratton Park.

A club statement said: ‘ Portsmouth Football Club are devastated to report that a Pompey fan has died following a medical emergency at Fratton Park today. ‘The incident happened right at the start of the game, with the referee taking the players off the pitch to allow for treatment to be administered.

Middlesbrough's Championship clash with Portsmouth was delayed with the players taken back off the pitch ahead of kick-off at Fratton Park. Referee Gavin Ward had just blown his whistle to start the match before quickly halting proceedings as he became aware of a medical emergency in the home end of Fratton Park.
