The Nifty 50 closed near flat on the final trading session of the year on Tuesday, as markets seeing a modest recovery after earlier losses led by information technology (IT) stocks, but thin volumes kept the market's movements subdued.

The BSE ​​Sensex slipped 109 points while Nifty50 ended flat on the last trading day of the year 2024 amid persistent foreign fund outflows as selling in heavyweight IT stocks weighed on the benchmarks.

The S P BSE Sensex fell by 109.12 points to settle at 78,139.01, while the Nifty50 edged down by 0.10 points, closing at 23,644.80.
