NVIDIA Corp. (NASDAQ:NVDA) has announced its inaugural Quantum Day, set to take place on Mar. 20 during the GTC 2025 event. The announcement comes just days after CEO Jensen Huang stated that practical quantum computing may still be two decades away.

Shares of Nvidia Corp. (NVDA) were in focus on Wednesday after the chip designer announced “Quantum Day” at the upcoming GPU Technology Conference (GTC 2025). Nvidia share price gained over 2.7% in morning trade.

Following the announcement of the Quantum Day, planned to take place on March 20, 2025, during its annual GTC conference, NVIDIA ( NVDA, Financials) shares climbed 2.14% to $134.58 as of 10:40 a.m. ET on Tuesday. The seminar will center on developments in quantum computing and possible uses for it in several sectors.

The shares of IonQ Inc. and other companies linked to quantum computing tumbled in extended trading on Tuesday after Nvidia Corp. Chief Executive Officer Jensen Huang said “very useful” quantum computers are likely decades away.
