The United States has sent 11 Yemeni detainees at the Guantanamo Bay detention center to Oman, the Pentagon said on Monday, in a major resettlement that slashes the prisoner population to just 15 people.

The Biden administration's move leaves just 15 detainees at the U.S. military prison at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba. Oman will help resettle the men and provide security monitoring.

The U.S. on Monday transferred 11 prisoners out of Guantánamo Bay, the latest batch of inmates to leave the infamous facility in Cuba that once held around 780 detainees. The 11 prisoners were Yemeni nationals,
