A new-born baby girl's life was saved after surgeons in Krakow, Poland, used a 3D replica of her underdeveloped skull to visualise how to operate on the bone defect that left her brain exposed.

Mystery still surrounds the severed head, which was found by a young boy who was walking in the woods in Economy, about 15 miles northwest of Pittsburgh, on December 12, 2014.
