Emilia Fox has paid tribute to the "kind" and "warm" Nigel McCrery. The creator of the long-running BBC forensic crime drama 'Silent Witness' - which stars the 50-year-old actress as Doctor Nikki Alexander - died on February 4 aged 71 after battling a terminal illness since October 2024.

Nigel McCrery worked as an officer with the murder squad of Nottinghamshire Constabulary before moving into TV and writing popular police procedurals Silent Witness and New Tricks.

He created Silent Witness in 1996 which originally starred Amanda Burton before Emilia Fox became its lead. Emilia paid tribute to his creation and spoke warmly about how "hugely fond" of him she was personally.
