The Secretary of Defense has renamed Fort Moore back to Fort Benning after less than two years under the current name.
Hegseth said the new Fort Benning will be named after World War I hero Cpl. Fred G. Benning, who was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for his "extraordinary heroism" in France in 1918.
On the 6th of December, 1918, a four-day protest broke out after the men were asked to clean toilets for Italian civilian workers below their rank, adding further insult to their unequal pay.
