Avatar: Fire and Ash director James Cameron reveals more about the nomadic Na'vi tribe known as the Wind Traders. Serving as a follow-up to 2022's Avatar: The Way of Water, the third installment in the hit Avatar franchise will once again follow the Sully family as they deal with the invading human forces on Pandora.

James Cameron is coming back with the long-awaited third chapter in the Avatar franchise. Avatar: Fire and Ash is going to expand the world of Pandora even further when it releases in December 2025. James Cameron is going to introduce us to a new clan of Na’vi, the Wind Traders!

Cameron makes particular reference to the new character Varang, who will be played by Oona Chaplin in Avatar: Fire and Ash. She's the leader of a clan of Na'vi who are volcano-dwelling, rather than being in the air or sea. He spoke more to Empire about that newcomer, offering:

But this time, fans can expect a slight shift in the franchise's familiar moral focus. According to director James Cameron, humans will no longer be the outright bad guys threatening the always peaceful Na'vi.
