Days after it was reported that the greyhound racing track would close for good, the sports betting company Grupo Caliente, the racetrack’s owner, issued a statement via Facebook on July 19.

As the fastest dog on Earth, greyhounds are born and often bred to race. And after the final greyhound race at Tijuana’s Agua Caliente was July 14, hundreds of dogs are now headed for retirement.
