Le Mans 24 Hours winner Ryo Hirakawa has joined Alpine’s Formula 1 team as its test and reserve driver. Having previously been a part of McLaren’s driver development programme, Hirakawa will switch to Alpine in 2025 and take on an expanded role with the Renault Group brand.

Alpine has announced that it has secured the services of Williams rookie Franco Colapinto through a multi-year deal with the British outfit.

On Thursday, the BWT Alpine Formula 1 Team announced that it had reached a multi-year deal with Williams to sign Colapinto to a reserve and test driver role for this season. The move would appear to put Colapinto in line for a seat at Alpine should anything happen to—or the team decide to move on from—drivers Pierre Gasly or Jack Doohan.
