Google says an API management issue is behind Thursday's massive Google Cloud outage, which disrupted or brought down its services and many other online platforms.

Google Cloud had a worldwide outage for several hours. Amid a recent string of recent outages among other technology platforms — such as ChatGPT — Google acknowledged its Cloud shutdown and provided an incident report on June 12, 2025. According to Google Cloud’s status site, the platform updated users at 12:41 PT, 3:41 ET on June 12.

Google Cloud outage affected 40 locations, and even Cloudflare Spotify, Discord and more went down, as were some Workspace apps Google blamed a dodgy update for the outage, promises to "do better" A number of popular websites went offline yesterday after Google Cloud experienced a major outage which saw users unable to access the likes of Spotify,
