The magic of Grimlock’s new toy comes at a substantial cost, though: It will retail for $1,699 when it’s released sometime this fall — though pre-orders come in slightly cheaper at $1,499.

That's close to $2K for a robot that, like its predecessors, is more of an enthusiast display item than a real toy. However, Grimlock is still a lot more fun than any other Robosen Transformer yet.

This Grimlock is based on the Transformers G1 version, which debuted in 1985. The collectible includes the original toy’s Energon sword, galaxial rocket launcher, and crown accessories.
