GENEVA — The Hobart hockey team kicked up its skates this past weekend, enjoying a first-round bye and getting needed rest as the 14-team NCAA Division III Men’s Ice Hockey Championship began.

With just over seven minutes to go, Hobart forward Kahlil Fontana was skating cross-ice behind the play when Norwich defenseman Harris Hilfiker skated toward Fontana and elbowed him in the head.
