A Mega Millions lottery ticket bought in the Twin Cities narrowly missed hitting the jackpot Tuesday but was still good for $1 million, officials said. The winning ticket for the multistate game was purchased at Cub Foods in Blaine just off Hwy.

Mega Millions tickets sold in Florida, Minnesota and New Jersey won $1 million, just missing the $20 million jackpot, lottery officials said. The tickets matched five winning numbers, but not the Mega Ball, in the drawing Tuesday, Dec. 31, the national Mega Millions site said.

Mega Millions, Powerball closed out 2024 with 3 record-setting jackpots. There have been 12 times in history that the grand prizes reached $1 billion.

A Mega Millions ticket worth $1 million was sold in New Jersey for Tuesday’s lottery drawing as the jackpot went without a big winner on New Year’s Eve. The second-prize Mega Millions ticket matched five of the winning numbers but not the Mega Ball drawn. Second-prize tickets worth $1 million were also sold in Florida and Minnesota.
