Rosewood Hotels & Resorts just opened its first resort in Japan—on Okinawa's Miyako Island—and Travel + Leisure was the first in.

Japan Thursday disclosed an evacuation plan for 120,000 residents of islands near Taiwan as it announced an evacuation drill in fiscal 2026. The contingency plans are in case of an emergency.
