What is the “polar vortex” and what impact does it bring?
Here in the lower Great Lakes Region, we are well-equipped to handle blasts of cold and snow. It’s when the polar vortex sends arctic air into areas that don’t usually receive it that it can become dangerous.
What is a polar vortex?
This can form what is called a Polar Vortex. This isn’t anything new, it’s just a newer term. This is when the area of high pressure moves south off the pole, hence polar and the jet dips even further south with an area of low pressure,
