Pope Francis suffered a fall and injured his right arm, the Vatican announced on Jan. 16. According to a brief statement, the 88-year-old pontiff fell at his Vatican residence. While he did not break it, the arm was immobilized as a cautionary measure.

Pope Francis has fallen and hurt his right arm. It's the second time in a month that Francis has injured himself after an apparent fall resulted in a bad bruise on his chin.

Pope Francis’ arm, tied up in a white sling, was visible in photos taken on the morning of Jan. 16 in the apostolic palace during his scheduled audiences.
