The 2024 hurricane season was another record-breaking one. The World Meteorological Organization’s (WMO) Hurricane Committee has retired three names from the Atlantic Basin list. Brianna, Holly, and Miguel will replace Beryl, Helene, and Milton on the 2030 name list. Hurricane names are retired after it causes many deaths and or significant damage.

Hurricanes Helene, Milton and Beryl were so nasty last year that their names are being retired. These storms caused more than 300 deaths and inflicted more than $119 billion in damage, prompting the World Meterological Organization (WMO) to remove them from the six-year rotating list of Atlantic storm names.

The World Meteorological Organization has retired the names Beryl, Helene and Milton because of the death and destruction these storms caused in 2024.
