Bee stings trigger the release of chemicals ... low blood pressure and a swelling of the face, tongue, mouth and lips, so that the airways become obstructed. Death can come from heart failure.

If you experience difficulty breathing, swelling beyond the sting site or other severe symptoms, seek medical attention. The highly aggressive Africanized bee, or killer bee, is widespread in Arizona.
