THE town of Dirranbandi in southern Queensland remains isolated by flood waters and will have to receive supplies by air for at least another week, Balonne Shire mayor Donna Stewart says.

Now eyes are on areas downstream where flood waters are expected to peak at Dirranbandi, about 100km south, in the coming days. The swollen river has cut off roads, isolating people in outlying towns.

January 8: The Balonne River experienced a major flood peak. A number of townships within the Balonne Shire, including St George and Dirranbandi, were cut off as a result of the floods.
