Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department are going to Washington to help with security at President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration Monday. The department said on X it is sending more than 100 officers to assist with security.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has announced it will be sending more than 100 officers to assist with security on Inauguration Day.

The Charlotte officers will join law enforcement teams from across the country to assist with crowd management and security measures during the ceremony.

While investigating, officers found a man yelling for help for help in Lake Wylie. After being rescued from the lake, the man was taken to a local hospital where he later died, officials said. Two officers were also taken to a local hospital and have since been released.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating a death that occurred in west Charlotte early Saturday morning.

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department are investigating a homicide in north Charlotte. The investigation is taking place in the 8700 block of Hollow Creek Circle. Details are limited at this time.
