The autumn equinox, which comes around every September for the Northern Hemisphere, marks the official astronomical start of fall. This year, the equinox arrives Sunday, Sept. 22 at 8:44 a.m. Eastern, according to The Farmers' Almanac.

The seasons are changing and so is the amount of daylight we get here in the Pikes Peak region. The first official day of fall is Sunday, Sept. 22–sometimes described as the fall/autumn equinox. The word ‘equinox’ actually means equal night in Latin.
