Iran is "pressing the gas pedal" on its enrichment of uranium to near weapons grade, U.N. nuclear watchdog chief Rafael Grossi said on Wednesday, adding that Iran's recently announced acceleration in enrichment was starting to take effect.

‘Iran currently has almost 200kg of uranium enriched to 60 per cent impurity-free, and this is close to the required 90 per cent for weapons production level,’ the director general said. This amount of nuclear material, if further enriched, could potentially be sufficient to make five nuclear warheads.
