The New York Times Tech Guild is ending a week-long strike that started one day before the U.S. presidential election and will return to work on Tuesday, it said in a post on X on Monday.

Now that the strike is over, the Tech Guild says supporters can resume playing the NYT ’s games and using the Cooking app. The union previously asked people to avoid playing any of the NYT ’s daily puzzle games, and it instead directed users to the games striking workers created on a separate website.

The action was criticized for its timing, which coincided with the final hours of the U.S. presidential election, thus impacting the newspaper’s ability to cover the race’s conclusion. While this was meant as a bargaining tactic designed to draw the paper’s executives to the table, that tactic doesn’t appear to have worked very well.
