Russian President Vladimir Putin told U.S. President Donald Trump in a phone call on Thursday that Moscow wants a negotiated end to the Ukraine war but will not step back from its original goals, a Kremlin aide said.

While discussing the situation around Iran, Putin emphasized the need to resolve all issues by political and diplomatic means, said Yuri Ushakov, his foreign affairs advisor.

Trump spoke Thursday morning with Russian President Vladimir Putin – two days after the US cut off air defense missiles and other weapons to Ukraine citing low American stockpiles.
