Mike Priefer, the former longtime special teams coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings, is making his return to football by joining Bill Belichick’s staff at North Carolina.

Bill Belichick is adding another seasoned NFL coach to his staff at North Carolina. Mike Priefer will be the new special teams coordinator for the Tar Heels, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel. Priefer, 58, coached special teams for more than two decades across the NFL.

On Wednesday, Belichick made two more additions to the staff for next season. Belichick brought in former NFL special teams coach Mike Priefer as North Carolina's new special teams coach and then hired Will Friend as the new offensive line coach, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel.
