Portland workers reach tentative agreement with city, avoiding strike
PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV) - More than 1,000 city workers have reached a tentative agreement with the City of Portland, avoiding a strike that was approved earlier this week. Oregon AFSCME Local 189 says the tentative agreement was reached after almost 18 hours at the bargaining table.
Portland reaches deal with larger of two city worker unions on the verge of striking
AFSCME Local 189 represents over 1,000 city employees and had Feb. 3 deadline to avert a strike. No word yet on a deal with DCTU, which represents about 200 staff.
