Shootings with injuries were up 19% year-over-year, as of Oct. 19, the latest shooting statistics available.according to the latest Police Department statistics. A total of 188 people had been shot, up from 158 by the same time last year. Fatal shootings and other killings are down, however.

A man died after two people were struck by a car on Holloway Street early Sunday evening, Durham police reported. Officers responded around 6 p.m. to the accident in the 1400 block of Holloway Street east of downtown.

A pedestrian was killed in a crash in Bristol Sunday night, police report. Bristol Police were notified of a man being struck by a car at 6:00 p.m. near the intersection of Barnes Highway and Lincoln Avenue.
