Changes arrive at Starbucks US. cafés on Monday, including a new code of conduct, free refills and the return of condiment bars. In case you missed the news, Starbucks now offers free refills. Is the coffee giant refilling every drink for free? Not exactly. If you order a specialty beverage such as a latte or frappuccino, you won’t get another one on the house.

Starbucks rolls out new initiatives in order to bring forth a sense of community, and one of these initiatives is returning to writing names on cups.

Starting today, you may start to notice a few big changes at your local Starbucks. As a part of their Back to Starbucks initiative, the coffee chain is implementing some exciting newness to their in-store ordering process.

Starbucks is bringing back several classic in-store features, including personalized cups, milk and sugar stations, and free refills for people who drink in-store. The changes went into effect this week.

No disposable or plastic vessels will be able to get the free refills. Additionally, if you purchase a cold brew, latte, Starbucks Refresher, Iced Tea Lemonade and many other drinks, you won’t be able to get the same drink for your free refill.

The coffee chain giant now requires purchases to hang out or use the restroom. Customers can get free refills on drinks.

The free refills will be served in coffee mugs, glasses, or a clean personal cup brought from home and are only available on the same visit at one store. The refills excludes Cold Brew and Nitro Cold Brew, Iced Tea Lemonade, flavored Iced Tea and Starbucks Refreshers® base. Initial purchase must be made in a reusable cup or “for-here” serveware.

Starbucks is implementing new and old policies at its cafes in the United States and Canada to improve the customer experience. Beginning on Monday, customers who order a “for here” beverage can also get free refills of hot or iced coffee or hot or iced tea during their visit.
