A freshman at Leesburg High School was arrested after a firearm was found in their backpack Thursday, according to Leesburg Police.

A student was arrested at Leesburg High School after a vape-detecting K-9 found a stolen gun in their backpack.

A dog named Samba detected a vape within the student’s backpack. A search found a loaded 9mm Glock in the backpack, which was determined to be stolen, police said. Officers took the firearm, searched the immediate area and stationed another officer on the campus for additional security for the remainder of the day, the department said.
