A new wildfire was reported today at 4:48 p.m. in Los Angeles County. The wildfire has been burning on private land. At this time, the containment status is unknown and the cause of the fire remains undetermined.

After forcing thousands of Californians to evacuate and burning more than 100 structures, a stubborn wildfire burning northwest of Los Angeles on Friday challenged firefighting crews working to snuff it out even as fierce winds in the area calmed.

Firefighters started gaining control on Friday over a stubborn wildfire near Los Angeles that destroyed at least 132 buildings and damaged 88 others, as many of the more than 10,000 people forced to evacuate were able to return home.

Southern California firefighters made progress against a wildfire that has destroyed 132 structures, mostly houses, and was fanned by gusty winds that began easing Friday, allowing some people to return to sort through the charred remains of their homes.
