Alexander Isak hit a first-half double as Newcastle United resisted a Nottingham Forest fightback to win a seven-goal thriller at St James' Park on Sunday. Forest had taken an early lead when Callum Hodson-Odoi capitalised on a Jacob Murphy error to fire the visitors in front.

Before kick-off, much was made of the looming midfield duel between Miley and another Newcastle academy graduate, Forest’s Elliot Anderson but of that pair, it was Howe’s No 67 who built the stronger case for a senior England call-up.
