Wegmans announcement of its first Pittsburgh area store has the attention of shoppers in the Cranberry area and we’re learning more about when the popular grocer will officially open.

Wegmans says it will build a new grocery store in Cranberry Township, Butler County, near the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in the Cranberry Springs development.

This will be the first Wegmans Food Market in the Pittsburgh region. The 115,000-square-foot store will be built in Cranberry.

Wegmans, the national grocery store chain with a cult-like following, announced plans to open its first store in the Pittsburgh region Monday.

Wegmans is coming. Wegmans executives said they are eyeing late 2027 as the target date to open their recently announced Cranberry location and hinted there could be more stores coming to the Pittsburgh area.

The grocery store chain confirmed on Monday that it has plans to open a location in Cranberry on Cool Spring Drive, near the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex. Wegmans says the new store will sell a variety of food, including produce, bakery goods and deli products, and offer a large selection of wine and beer.

The Rochester-based supermarket chain already has a number of stores throughout Pennsylvania, but this will be its first store in the Pittsburgh region.
