State lawmakers are working to combat President Donald Trump’s new immigration mandate to detain and deport people who entered the country illegally, regardless of their criminal history.

Trump will impose 25% tariffs on imports from Canada and Mexico and 10% on goods from China, following a pledge he made after winning the White House.

The remarks come amid ongoing discussions between the Trump administration and Mexican and Canadian officials.
