Red Sox acquire Sabol from Giants, add to catching depth
The Boston Red Sox on Wednesday acquired catcher Blake Sabol from the San Francisco Giants, in exchange for international bonus pool space. To make room on the 40-man roster, Boston designated right-handed pitcher Chase Shugart for assignment.
The Red Sox' plan is for two-way prospect Conrad Cason both to pitch and be a position player right away this season.
