The U.S. House Freedom Caucus chose Maryland Rep. Andy Harris as chairman following the resignation of outgoing Virginia Rep. Bob Good.

U.S. Rep. Andy Harris, R-District 1, was elected Tuesday night as the new leader of the conservative caucus after its previous chairman, Virginia U.S. Rep. Bob Good, R-District 5, dropped out of the race.

Harris told Fox News the Freedom Caucus would focus on reining in government spending and changing intra-party Republican rules

This comes after incumbent Congressman Bob Good failed to win his reelection campaign in the June 18 primaries.
