Bailey Zappe made a bit of history Saturday afternoon when he took the opening snap of the Cleveland Browns' Week 18 clash against the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium. Zappe is the 40th quarterback to start under center for the Browns' franchise since the 1999 NFL season.

Bailey Zappe will be quarterback No. 4 and No. 40 for the Browns. He was chosen by coach Kevin Stefanski to start Saturday’s season finale at Baltimore, making him the fourth quarterback to start this season and the 40th since Cleveland returned to the NFL as an expansion team in 1999.

The 3-13 Cleveland Browns are turning to Bailey Zappe as their starting quarterback for Saturday’s season finale in Baltimore, a team source confirmed.

Former New England Patriots quarterback Bailey Zappe will get the start for the Cleveland Browns on Saturday when they take on the Baltimore Ravens in the Week 18 season finale. Zappe was signed from the Kansas City Chiefs’ practice squad to the Browns’ active roster back in October. He has yet to make his debut with the Browns.

Tom Withers of the Associated Press is reporting that Bailey Zappe will start for the Browns at quarterback in Sunday’s season finale against Baltimore. Zappe will be the 40th quarterback to start for the Browns since the team returned to the NFL in 1999.

The Cleveland Browns have seen second-year quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson struggle mightily over the last couple of weeks. After making the move away from Jameis Winston as their starting quarterback and giving Thompson-Robinson the opportunity,
