THE HAGUE, Netherlands — U.S. President Donald Trump’s executive order imposing sanctions on the International Criminal Court (ICC) could jeopardize trials and investigations at the world’s only permanent global tribunal for war crimes and genocide.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order Thursday imposing sanctions on the International Criminal Court, claiming that it “has engaged in illegitimate and baseless actions targeting America and our close ally Israel.”

President Trump says the work of the I.C.C., the world’s highest criminal court, threatens the national security of the United States and its allies, including Israel.
