In a move that has caught the attention of hockey fans and analysts alike, the New York Rangers recently claimed Arthur Kaliyev off waivers from the Los Angeles Kings.

The New York Rangers claimed forward Arthur Kaliyev off waivers Monday from the Los Angeles Kings. The 23-year-old wing has not played in the NHL this season after recovering from a broken clavicle suffered in training camp. He played five AHL games as part of a conditioning stint in December but didn’t appear for the Kings before going on waivers.

A trade request, lack of playing time and a foiled relationship with the Kings led Arthur Kaliyev right to the Rangers.

The forward was a healthy scratch in the Rangers 5-4 overtime loss to the Dallas Stars on Tuesday. Kaliyev has 71 points (35 goals, 36 assists) in 188 NHL games, all with the Kings.
