The wildfire along Interstate 37 in the far Southeast Side of San Antonio is now contained, officials said. Evacuation orders for some parts of Southton Road and Donop Road are still in place. San Antonio Fire Department Chief Valerie Frausto said Tuesday evening from the scene that fire crews will work through the night to extinguish the fires.

ELMENDORF, Texas – A grass fire ignited southeast of San Antonio on Tuesday, as high winds and dry air coursed through Texas. Located in the San Antonio suburb of Elmendorf, the wildfire burned along Interstate 37, sending large plumes of smoke into the air.
