Jul 19, 2018 · Responding to disasters, both locally and nationally, a team of two or more American Red Cross volunteers typically responds in an officially marked vehicle. For larger events, the vehicle of choice will probably be ERV – the E mergency R esponse V ehicle.

There are several differences with the new ERVs. They are a bit taller, a skosh longer, and also somewhat narrower than the box version ERVs. They have back-up cameras, two easy-to-open serving windows, and two serving seats.

The ECRV, or Emergency Communications Response Vehicle, was designed and created for the American Red Cross by Disaster Services Communications paid and volunteer staff, to provide communications links between disaster relief operations and the Disaster Operation Center.
